This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity for coral reef conservation is a continuation of Patra Jasa’s previous CSR in 2017, regarding the installation of Biorock using the latest technology to help preserve coral reefs in the Buleleng Region, Bali with the Indonesian Karang Lestari Foundation.
Through The Patra Bali Resort & Villas Business Unit, PT Patra Jasa contributes to preserving nature and the environment by building Biorock under the sea at Pemuteran beach to protect marine ecosystems by producing coral. Biorock is well managed by the Indonesian Coral Lestari conservation team.
On this occasion, the management of The Patra Bali Resort & Villas monitors and manufactures Solar Panels at the Biorock location. The technology used in Biorock uses low-power electric copper iron using solar panels which can accelerate calcification and can be directly felt by coral reefs so that the growth process becomes 2 to 6 times faster. Coral reefs produced from the Biorock process also have brighter colors and are more resistant to unstable sea water temperature changes.
In this activity, Patra Jasa handed over a statue of Garuda Paksi and an iron frame as the foundation of the statue. The iron skeleton was sunk first and was followed by the Garuda Paksi statue.
The statue was carried by several workers and local residents who live in the Pemuteran area into the sea to a depth of 1 meter, whereupon the statue was rooted by 30 divers using drum floats made of plastic. The sinking location is 150 meters from the shoreline. The electric current from the cathode cable is then tied to an iron foundation which is then planted with coral reef seeds.
