Denpasar – Kuta is famous for its beautiful beaches in the city of Bali and has become an enchanting tourist destination. In reality, the coastal area has become a supporter of the local Balinese community’s livelihood, enabling them to survive. Considering this, Patra Jasa helps the Bali Salt Business Group (Kugar) to enhance the local economy and preserve the local culture around Bali (6/12).
Traditional salt production in Bali, especially in Pesinggahan Village, is a cultural heritage maintained by local farmers for decades. This salt production process is a culture passed down through generations, utilizing seawater and sunlight to produce high-quality salt. To support the smooth operation and development of their business, Patra Jasa, through The Patra Bali Resort & Villas, provided assistance through the Social & Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, which aims to strengthen production capacity and improve the welfare of the surrounding community.
The ceremonial handover of assistance to the traditional salt production group in Pesinggahan Village, Dawan District, Klungkung was conducted in early December 2024, which was well-received by the representatives of the group, namely I Ketut Santa, I Nyoman Warta, and Ni Wayan Putri. The assistance provided includes water storage containers, troughs and 3 huts, nameplates, and various other necessities.
The Head of the Fisheries Division of Klungkung Regency, Ni Made Candrawati, said, “We are very grateful and appreciate this activity, and it is very beneficial for the salt farmer group in Kusamba Village. The average age of the residents is no longer productive, so this assistance can help increase their income to improve their welfare. Thank you to Patra Jasa for helping preserve local culture, and may Patra Jasa continue to succeed in the future.
“We hope that salt farmers can improve the quality of their products while introducing traditional Balinese salt to a wider market. This activity will directly enhance production efficiency, salt quality, and their economic welfare. This program is a tangible manifestation of Patra Jasa’s commitment to supporting the local economy and preserving Balinese traditions, especially in the salt production sector utilizing marine ecosystems,” said Febriani Tri Elvandhari, Acting Manager of External Relations & CSR, in her speech.
