Yogyakarta – Seeing the high number of tourists continuously arriving in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Patra Jasa deems it important to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of hoteliers in the Yogyakarta area. To ensure the quality of human resources (HR) in the tourism sector can keep up with rapid developments, Patra Jasa is implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities by providing training for hoteliers in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Special Region Education and Tourism Offices (26/11).
According to Harian Jogja on August 28, 2024, the accumulation of tourist movements in Yogyakarta from January to July 2024 reached 6,352,184 tourists. This consisted of 6,188,338 domestic tourists and 163,846 international tourists. This data reflects that there are increasing job and business opportunities for the community in the tourism sector.
Committed to advancing the tourism sector in Yogyakarta, Patra Jasa, through Patra Malioboro Hotel, is conducting a CSR program focused on education in the hospitality field. In collaboration with the Putri Kedathon Training and Certification Institute, this activity invited students from 4 (four) hospitality schools, with a total of 90 beneficiaries.
Over the course of two days, the training participants received basic knowledge and practical experience regarding the hospitality industry. On the first day, participants were taught material related to housekeeping and followed by hands-on practice regarding bed-arrangement from room-setting and room-cleaning in Patra Malioboro Hotel rooms. The second day continued with discussions related to food & beverage (F&B) and how to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen environment, followed by practical preparation for cooking steak from ingredient preparation to plating guided by the Chef of Patra Malioboro Hotel.
Wahyu Hendratmoko, Head of the Yogyakarta City Tourism Office, said, “We thank Patra Jasa for prioritizing the CSR program to enhance tourism in Yogyakarta. We hope this program can continue to be implemented and serve as a role model for other hotel companies so that in the future, students will have skills relevant to the hospitality industry.”
Pjs Manager External Relation & CSR Febriyani Tri Elvandhari said, “The CSR program we are conducting this time focuses on enhancing the capabilities of the participants, so it is necessary to update knowledge and provide direct practice, so that it can be absorbed well. In addition, students are expected to become more mature and confident in the quality of service they will provide after applying the knowledge and skills obtained from the program delivered by certified instructors.”
